About Cook's Pizza
Our History
Cook's Pizza began as the dream of two teenage brothers, Stan and Steve Cook, who opened the doors on August 1, 1971, in Wakarusa, Indiana. Inspired by their time working in their aunt and uncle’s soda fountain and ice cream parlor, they decided to bring a taste of that experience to their small town. What started as a modest ice cream and soda shop quickly evolved, and pizza was added to the menu—a move that would define Cook's legacy.
Stan and Steve’s vision was rooted in the idea of community. From hosting middle school students grabbing a slice before the game to hiring generations of local teens, Cook’s Pizza became a cherished part of daily life in Wakarusa. Over the years, the pizzeria has remained in its original building, preserving the warm, welcoming atmosphere that customers have loved for decades.
